Blue poppies

No child should be educated to serve the system! Every child is the hope that their NEW way of thinking feeling and acting will bring more peace, joy and happiness to this wonderful world! Children need to be able to develop and unfold their full potential and not become future consumers or future "servants" of the economy!"

Blue poppies are the national flowers of Bhutan

Actually I have never seen one…since 2 years here… I really need to look out for these lovely flowers

But it was the word blue…that inspired me to write about a certain…blues…

May be I get too many informations about climate change, inequalities, pollution, coorporate irresponsabilities  etc from my FB page as most of my friends are quite awake and critical to the current system,

Yet when I look up the information sources, (Tho always tells me to check where the informations come from) it is WHO, world Bank, the UN, big and well known research Universities and Centres… and everyone agrees that we are facing big challenges that need to be adressed NOW if we want a good future for our children, grandchildren and future generations…

And yet so little courageous, out of the box thinking  acts are taken by governments, are taken by powerful cooperations

You feel they all want immediate results, profits, profits, profits…and actually to think in terms of longterm, future generations…no time for that…others might take business opportunities, immediate profit opportunities from us while we think of wholesome solutions for the future?

Technology will save us all…well it brought most of the pollution problems…right ? It really has brought great advancements but also huge challenges, environmental, social, personal. How could technology become ethical and wholesome and not just profit oriented !

I am sure future generations will condemn many of todays choices, like we condemned racism apartheid, colonialism, 2nd world war, the holocaust etc…may be we do not have a Worldwar 3 but a world- collaps through irresponsable political ecological and economic choices....I really hope not! I really hope courageous actions, new ways of thinking of trying out new ways will prevent such catastrophies to happen,

When I listened to the aspirations of the young people last week at the GNH Centre workshop I was so moved by their wisdom and love for their country! They do know what matters!

I know the GNH Centre stresses a lot on inner change to bring about outer change and that these two need to go hand in hand..I truly believe this to be true as it is a lot our collective greed, fear and ignorance that hinder us to be bold courageous and generous in facing these challenges !

Bhutan was very much leading a certain courageous, out of the box, new and truly innovative approach, but what can a small country do with so much pressure from everywhere to become « just like the rest of us » and to « float with us all into the abbyss » …..

There are many similar great initiatives like in Bhutan made by individuals, communities, businesses, countries even, but sometimes I get weiry...it goes so slowly...and the old way "business as usual" is trying to cling unto power...

I listened to an interview on Hardtalk BBC of a very powerful politician who said that climate change and pollution are THE menaces for the future and that his government is seing this as a priority to find new ways,

Even if the motivation does not come through inner transformation but comes out of egoistic fear it might be better than not to act…Am I right ?

But back to my blue poppy, the other day we accompagnied 60 young monks to Cheri monastery as they entered the preparation to their 3 year, 3 months etc retreat,

So much happiness and « excitment » to « leave this world behind » in order to build a strong inner world of peace, love and understanding

I think I mentioned this in a previous blog….may be that’s what we all should do ?

Just joking…but sometimes I wonder….

How to stay fresh, courageous, innovative…I think I’ll go for a walk… looking for blue poppies !
