Treking in Bhutan

Treking in Bhutan

I never learned to drive a car ! Yes I am one of the few people in the west who CANNOT drive, but do believe me it was a very conscious choice…I really do love to walk !!!!!

I know in Europe, specially in Switzerland, public transports are great and I have a really kind husband and nice friends who drive me around when really necessary…but still I walk, take trains, busses,  a lot !

Here in Bhutan we have an electric car…100% electric ! It is a great pleasure to drive this car…when we start it, a writing appears on the screen : ZERO EMISSION which really makes you feel good !

In Vietnam I have an electric bycicle ...but it allmost goes too fast for me !

But what I really like most is to WALK !

Whenever we have a day off here in Bhutan,  Tho and me climb up to some monastery : Tango, Cheri, Dodendrak, Thalaka, Tigersnest, Drakarpo, Bhuddapoint, Bumdrak….…etc etc…

It is so much joy to walk in this wonderful nature and to arrive at a monastery, to rest and sit in meditation in some wonderful temple, to be invited for a tea by some smiling monks….and to walk down again, feeling tired in your body but happy !

Walking as a pilgrimage...a methaphore of ones life

Walking with fellow pilgrims, walking as a river

But what I like most while walking actually is …to STOP…

Usually I recite a mantra while walking and do walking meditation, coordinating my breath/steps…but even walking it sometimes goes too fast…

You need to stop to actually see a little blue flower, a cloud in the sky, breathe in the smells of the forest, to see a little ant, to feel nature …to feel your ownh eart beat, to look deeply in and around you

Stopping is one of the most miraculous activities:  it open up worlds !

Just looking at a raindrop on a leaf, discovering the perfection of a flower, admiring the bark of a hundred year old tree, being in awe gazing at stars, looking into your loved ones eyes ….the whole universe, the whole of our purpose in life can be found in this moment of stopping,

May be one day when I cannot walk that much anymore I will be able to enjoy and live fully in the stopping..in one steps all steps are contained !

In one moment all moments are healed
