Buddhanature…la
Tho and me got married when I was 18 and he was 20…quite some time ago, actually 41 years this year,
And we NEVER owned a TV in our whole family life...,
Actually not 100% true, when our
two children were teenagers, my father inlaw offered them each a tiny portable (! With batteries!) TV that lasted a few months before breaking down,
Our life is so rich and full…no need for TV
But now in Thimpu, we have a big flatscreen
TV
We hardly open it, just once in a while to look at news…but even then I fall asleep quickly…it is a good sleeping pill for me…
But yesterday Saturday evening I came across a Bhutanese entertainment and educational program
that runs Saturday and Sunday from 6 to 9 (if I got it right) that was really interesting!
It was a talk show with the title: How to attain enlightenment!
A young TV host interviews spiritual leaders, yesterday a Tibetan
Lama: Dzogschen Ponlop Rimpoche
Here were some of the questions:
Many viewers ask us this question: is there a shortcut to nirvana, la?
Rimpoches answer: May be we should ask Kurt Kobain :)
(I think the
TV host didn't "get it"...me too... it took me some minutes...:)..)
Do insects have a Buddha nature even though they are so small,la? Or do they have a very small Buddha nature., la?
Rimpoche's answer: same same, but we humans have
the best conditions to attein enlightement,
What is the difference between a bhuddist and a non-buddhist,la?
How to develop boddhicitta,la ?
Really interesting answers and a very nice athmosphere,
It is a program for the youth and in one of his last answers Rimpoche said to the youth of Bhutan that they are so fortunate to have Bhuddism in such a pure way available everywhere, that very few people are so fortunate and lucky in this
world, so they should be aware of this and seaze this occasion in the best way and make it flourish,
You noticed the LA in the end of each question …well in Bhutan it seems to be a very nice and polite way to end sentences or certain
words by a “tender” la…a bit like the swiss germans with their: li….it sounds nice anyway,
Tho found a very nice poem by Dzogschen Ponlop Rimpoche on internet:
THE GAP
Sudden
thoughts
The ground of nowness
True eyes
See the gap right through
Nowness
Doesn’t matter what it looks like
It’s the only hope
For awakening on the spot
Now or never
Is the reality
of awakening
Today Sunday we take it EASY…
Much love to you all
