My last day in Bhutan...:).... Until I come back:)
I joined the GNH team today on one of their focus group sessions in a Thimpu college with a group of 20 young students.
It was an inspiring experience for me!
Until now Tho and
his team had mainly interviewed and worked with leaders of government and civil society but now they start "Focus Groups" of "ordinary" people,
It was a good start with a group of young people between 14-17 of age.
The questions were the
same:
How do you understand GNH
How does it affect your life, your family, your society
What are the opportunities, positive aspects
What are the challeges, the difficulties
What do you expect of the GNH Center
What
programs would you like to join there
Dr Tho and Tandin guided these sessions in a very dynamic and joyful way,
I was impressed by the strong willingness to do good of all these youngsters,
Some were so wise
Their concern
for the environment, the society, the respect of traditions and their great love for their king and leaders was touching!
Of course they also see some tensions between modernity/tradition/ and challenges for GNH to be implemented,
Many mentioned
meditation and mindfulness to guide them to HAPPINESS
It was an inspiring moment:)
I have to pack my suitcase now:)
Much love
