I wondered, would I continue writing my blog away from Bhutan?
Well let's see....for now I have some feelings to share...:)...
I arrived safely in Bangkok yesterday evening,
My hotel is in the middle of the tourist area, Sukhumvit
soi13...I walked around yesterday evening almost dizzy from walking in the crowd, smell, pollution...so many things...to buy!...so many people, some looking quite strange (after Bhutan...one get's sensitive...:)
This morning I took a walk as well, just
to orient myself before I pick up my granddaughter this afternoon:)
I went into one of the fancy huge malls...Dolce Gabbana, Bally, Timberland etc...I went into a huge bank...I realized our society is all about the "wrapping"...the fancier the
shop, the location, the decoration the better(?)! How much money the banks spend (our money?) to have the fanciest temples...how much money the fancy shops spend just to be in the fanciest spot...All of these shops looked empty.
I wonder if this
"allways more" societies are not actually outdated, this running for more might be in it's last breath...what do you think?...in a way the laid back Bhutan with it's quite frugal lifestyle gives me more hope for the future...
But do not misunderstand
me: I enjoy being here...It is great to watch this "chaos". Lama Chenpen (probably wrong spelling) from Thimpu, a welsh/tibetan monk who before his last meditation session last tuesday in Thimpu, was all nostalgic for big city life saying he was missing the
anonymus crowds, weird people, the 24h activities and was a bit tired of "village life" in Bhutan (I guess he was joking...his sens of humor is really fun!), well he would enjoy BKK!
Talking about consumerism, I almost bought some Merrel shoes...oh
good shoes are really important for me I love walking!!!!:)
Going to the airport to pick up Naomi:)
