Naomi and me did not sleep too well tonight,
She still has jet lag, and I think I was too "full" of all the sensory impressions of the day, of too rich food...In Bhutan the diet of red rice+emadtsi is quite frugal...food is simple and I feel
it does me good! (of course a bit boring too:)
I remember I wrote in my blog in Bhutan that one starts to see everything from a distance, well here there is so much to see "right infont of your nose",
One touches people walking in the crowded
streets, the skyscrapers, the multilayered streets obstruct the "far distance"view, tastes and smells, colors just come right under your nose,
This morning I bought the Merrel shoes for Bhutan in cold weather. We went to one of the fancy malls near
our hotel to get them,
Naomi keeps saying to me whenever I say, look don't you like this? : I don't need anything...I have enough clothes, enough stuff...she is quite shocked by the over consumerist society!
Tho met the young Tulku yesterday...well
I am travelling with a wise young lady as well...telling me : YOU HAVE ENOUGH:)
The price we are paying for all these things is very high in term of pollution, stress, difference pooor/rich, enhancement of our greed etc and here in one of the big asian
cities one can feel the concequence of all this more wividly!
We met Aimy a young chinese woman from Beijing who told us how scared EVERYONE is in Beijing concerning the quality of food, of toys, of all sorts of chemicals used in all every day life,
how she grows her own vegetables in a tiny garden, how young couples do not want children anymore as they are "too expensive"...she spoke of the terrible pressure to earn a lot of money, the enormous price of housing etc
Naomi and me have quite a lot
of food for thought these days,
I really hope the next generation will help us tranform and find new sustainable ways of living:)
I do hope GNH will put the economic developpment in it's right place, where it REALLY enhances our HAPPINESS and
not actually decreases it!
I put a post on my blog in french: Il ne suffit pas de manger bio pour changer le monde: It is not enough to eat organic to change the world...:) Pierre Rabbi
Meeting friends now at noon:)
